Officers hold vote of confidence, target top CCRA managers Customs Officers enraged with obstruction from CCRA managers, Minister’s hands tied OCT 07, 2002 – On Monday, September 23, 2002, the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency officially informed CEUDA representatives that Customs Officers across Canada were doing work that should be done by Immigration Officers. This was used as one of the key reasons by the CCRA not to maintain parity between Customs and Immigration Officers contrary to what has always been the case in the past. The union representing Customs Officers, the Customs Excise Union Douanes Accise (CEUDA), has lobbied Customs management who, in turn, have shown contempt, made threats, and stonewalled the union and its members. At the request of its members, CEUDA is holding a news conference to explain the situation in detail, and to launch a national vote questioning the confidence that Customs Officers are left with towards CCRA Commissioner Wright, and CCRA Assistant Commissioner for Customs, Lefebvre.
