Canadian Police & Peace Officers' Memorial Service

SEP 24-06  Parliament Hill, Ottawa ... On September 24, 1998 the Government of Canada officially proclaimed the last Sunday of September of every year as Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day. This National Memorial Day gives Canadians an opportunity each year to formally express appreciation for the dedication of police and peace officers, which made the ultimate tragic sacrifice to keep our communities safe.  Unfortunately, our comrades are falling at an alarming rate; six to eight officers a year for the last twenty-three years. We now have a total of approximately seven hundred officers on the Honour Roll. The importance of their sacrifice is overwhelming.

National Day Against Homophobia May 17
MAY 17-06  Announcement  ... Its objective is to fight homophobia in the job world and in the sport. The job world is not spared from homophobia. It is an extremely difficult environment for gays and lesbians, even if some environments may be more tolerant than others. As is often the case for other forms of discrimination, the workplace needs to make it a point to offer a homophobia-free environment.

Statement by the CEUDA National President Concerning Tragic Deaths of RCMP Officers
MAR 04-05  Ottawa ... It is with great sorrow that we have learned of the tragic deaths of four Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers yesterday in Rochfort Bridge, Alberta.

Members and activists of CEUDA are shocked by this brutality, and join me in condemning the violent acts that brought about these deaths.

This horrible event is a strong reminder of the bravery of men and women who serve to protect us and of the sacrifices they make to confront the dangerous circumstances on our behalf, in order to make Canada a safer place.

On behalf of the Customs Excise Union Douanes Accise, I would like to express condolences to the families of the officers who were killed as they carried out their duty in enforcing the law and protecting the public.

At this moment of difficulty and loss, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

CEUDA will not let management intimidate and silence us!
JAN 31-05  Open letter to all CEUDA members ... CEUDA members continue to be faced with and struggle against serious management shortfalls when it comes to policy decisions, adequate staffing levels, tooling and equipment, training, and fair classification of work, to name a few.  Direct appeals to management through formal consultations or informal discussions have led to some improvements over the years but management has for the most part continued to resist taking active, progressive steps forward unless under pressure to do so.
