CEUDA's Equal Opportunity Representative
Carolyn was first involved as an activist in high school holding both regional and federal political Youth positions. Carolyn started with Customs as a Summer Student Customs Officer in 1993 and then became a Term Customs Officer in 1994. Sister McGillivray took her first PSAC Education course in 1995, and quickly took on the duties of a Union Steward shortly after becoming indeterminate. Carolyn has worked as a Customs Officer at various places including Osoyoos, Nelway, Douglas, Pac Hwy, Pac Hwy Longroom, Boundary Bay, Pleasant Camp, and Beaver Creek- all in the pacific region, and she’s also worked in the Surrey Tax Centre with IT Services. Carolyn currently works in Customs Compliance Verification in Vancouver, B.C., where she was the Chief Steward and held the CEUDA 20040 Branch Secretary position until being elected to her first term as the CEUDA Equal Opportunity Representative. As CEUDA’s Equal Opportunity Representative, Carolyn is a member of the CEUDA National Board of Directors and she chairs the Equal Opportunity Committee and the Joint Union Management Employment Equity Committee of the Board. She also represents CEUDA on the PSAC Equal Opportunity Committee. Carolyn’s goal in this position is to work towards change effectively. A larger goal would be for all members to understand their rights. Sister McGillivray will remain in office until the October 2008 Convention, when she will need to re-offer if he wishes to remain in office for another term.
