Jean-Pierre Fortin

Jean-Pierre started his career with Revenue Canada as a Customs Inspector in May 1982 at the Noyan Customs Office in Quebec. He has worked as a Customs Inspector in St-Armand, and in Clarenceville, where he is still working.

Brother Fortin became a Steward in 1987 and has since been elected Treasurer, 2nd Vice-President and finally President of the Eastern Townships District Branch, a position he has held from 1996 until his election to the National Executive.

As 1st National Vice-President, Jean-Pierre is accountable for the following three portfolios:  Grievances and Appeals, National Office Operations, and National Office Staff Collective Bargaining.  He is also chair of the following two Committees of the CEUDA NBOD: Human Resources Working Committee and its Sub-Committees, and the Border Security Committee.

Jean-Pierre is also responsible for all four CEUDA District Branches in the Quebec Region, as well as the Headquarters District Branch.  He is also member of CEUDA Holdings Ltd.

Having strong leadership and charismatic skills, Jean-Pierre has and will continue to work hard for implementation of fair and equitable Classification Standards in order to correct past injustices.  Jean-Pierre Fortin will try to ensure that the health and safety interests of all members are ensured through changes to the workplace of Customs Officers and along the border.

He hopes that the experience acquired in the Quebec Region will enable him to exercise a strong leadership and will bring new vitality to the Union.
